There are cases you want to share your internet connection on Mac with mobile phones or other devices. If your Mac is connected to a wired network via Ethernet, you can share your connection from Ethernet adapter with other computers or devices via Wi-Fi hotspot. If your Mac is connected to a Wi-Fi network via wireless router, you can share your Wi-fi connection with other devices using USB cable or Bluetooth.

Share Mac WiFi with iPhone over USB
Click the Apple icon at the Apple top menu bar, select System Preferences from the drop-down menu. Click Sharing in the System Preferences dialog. To share Wi-Fi network from Mac, you need to firstly click to highlight the “Internet Sharing” option in the left list, then select the Internet connection from the “Share your connection from” box. Choose Wi-fi in this case. In the “To computers using” box, enable the iPhone USB option. After that click the checkbox before the Internet Sharing in the left list. You will get a warning message in the pop-up window. Click Start button to turn on internet sharing on Mac.
Now connect your iPhone to Mac via USB. Your iPhone is now connected to the internet through the Mac which is connected to a Wi-Fi network.

Share Mac WiFi with iPhone through Bluetooth
If you do not have the USB cable at hand or your Macbook does not have the USB port, you can turn on Wi-Fi connection sharing over Bluetooth on Mac. In the Sharing window, select Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network) in the “To computer using” box to tell your Mac to share the Wi-Fi connection over a Bluetooth. After that, turn on Bluetooth on Mac and your iPhone, Android or other mobile phones. Then pair your iPhone or Android devices to the Mac and wirelessly share the Mac’s Wi-Fi connection over Bluetooth.
